I always assumed bread was really hard to make until I found this recipe, only four ingredients and about five minutes of work. Making your own bread is going to taste so much nicer than the store bought stuff and is a great plastic free (ish) option. Likely the only plastic used for this will be the lid of the yeast which is a hard plastic which is very easy to recycle (unlike the plastic bags bread come in). The only problem you will have with the recipe is eating it too fast. Link to the original recipe: https://www.jocooks.com/wprm_print/13740
1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and yeast. Then pour in the water and mix into the dry ingredients, with a wooden spoon or a spatula, until fully incorporated.
2. Cover the bowl with a clean tea towel and let it sit on the counter over night or for 12-18 hours.
3. Pre heat the oven to 230 C/450 F/8 Gas Mark with a dutch oven or cast iron pot inside. By the time the oven is pre heated, the pot should be hot enough. If you do not have one these, can use a metal pot with a lid. Once the oven is pre heated carefully remove the pot from the oven and remove the lid.
4. Flour your hands, your work space, and the dough (slightly). Then carefully remove the dough from the bowl and very gently shape in into a ball. Sprinkle some flour onto the bottom of the pot and drop the ball of dough into the pot. Place the lid back on the pot and put into the oven.
5. Bake covered for 30 minutes, then remove the lid and bake for another 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Remove the bread from the pot, should come out very easily. Put on a wire rack too cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing into.
